Thirty miles across the Mason-Dixon Line, located on the outskirts of cozy little Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, the Ridge Church of the Brethren sits between two mountain ranges and near the crossroads of two major transportation routes, heading East - West (76 the Pa. Turnpike) and North - South (Interstate 81). We the members of The Ridge Church, enjoy the scenic beauty of open farmlands, wooded mountains in the distance and streams twisting their way through our valley. Historic Gettysburg is an hour east while the state capital of Harrisburg is less than an hour to the north. The nation’s capital, Washington D.C., is a short three hours away. The states of Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia are all within an hour drive to the South. Yeper! You can travel through Y’all to Yun’s in an hour.

Within the town of Shippensburg, you can find the conveniences of shopping, locally family owned Restaurants, and a variety of grocery stores, ready to meet your needs and suit your tastes.  Don’t get in a hurry because you might miss the Mennonite or Amish horse-drawn buggies that regularly travel the roads. They will be out in large number on Sundays and other special dates, as there is no mistaking this area as part of the Bible Belt. Shippensburg is home to its own University too, evidenced by the college students moving about town and the local pizza shops that thrive from their patronage.


Several major attractions are an easy drive from this area; include Hershey Park, Gettysburg Battle Field, and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, which is home of the National Aquarium and not far from D.C. We are about midway between Pittsburg, to the east, and Philadelphia, to the west with the Pa. turnpike making quick work, “a three hour tour”, of travel to either destination. The Appalachian Mountains pass through the heart of this area. The scenic beauty of the wooded mountain ridges, the checkerboard farm covered valleys, not to mention the expanse of the rocky Susquehanna River challenges any attempt at description via the written word.   Well, you will have to come see it for yourself! Come sooth your senses with the sights, sounds and fragrances of southern Pennsylvania. Oh yes, one final bit of geographic information. The Commonwealth does touch the Great Lake of Erie at its northwest corner and the States of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia and Ohio swinging in a clockwise motion. So, “You can get there from here!” but you have to come here first.
